      Not quite an Aveo

hey guys I am from Canada, I don't quite have an Aveo but a Suzuki Swift, car from what I understand and see is almost identical.

I have to say that I love the looks of these cars, I just got rid of my AWD Matrix which was not as fuel efficient. So I bought this Swift, 5 speed with 126k kms on it. From a garage that had replaced the head, timing belt and water pump. I have driven alot of these 5 doors lately and found this one to be the best for my needs. It is quiet compared to the Toyotas and Kias I drove. Reason I joined here is because I can't find any solid forum regarding the Suzuki most are the UK or Asian versions which dont appear to be the same.

I actually own a "not quite Swift" - an old Pontiac Firefly (Geo Metro clone). That's the platform some of those other Swift forums are about. Then there was another Swift version that we never got here in Canada/U.S. That name gets around. Confusion!

Sounds like the timing belt probably broke in your car and they repaired it.

Feel free to make a garage entry for your Swift+: http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/mygarage/add

      Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome, I already did the garage entry. They had replaced the timing belt which was one of my concerns with these cars.

I had one of those too, bought it right after my Chevette was a upgrade back then.

126k km (* ~75k miles for our US friends) is pretty low for an '04 too. Should have lots more years of service to give you.

Yes it is and plan to keep it around a long time. So since I dont have the service book how long is the timing belt supposed to last?

      90-100k kms (50-60k mi.)

You should be good for a while.

Thats good to hear, as I loved the look of these cars I was concerned about this timing belt issue.
