      Hello from Bellaire, OH

Here to get help with my fiance's 06 Aveo. Starting to get to the mileage and age that things are going to start to break. Have a couple of problems popping up already.

My names Michael. I have a 2004 Trailblazer that is far from stock, that I do all my own work on. Live near Wheeling, WV. Look forward to being on here and being able to tinker with this car too.

      Welcome, pictures of the Trailblazer?

What kind of problems are you having now with the Aveo?

*With the Aveo, the CD player will skip sometimes. Usually in the winter, but it happens after the car has warmed up. Doesn't consistently do it, but enough that we don't usually mess with CDs anymore.
      *Radio says "error 9" periodically.
*Been having problems starting lately (probably original 5 year old battery going out).
*Car will just loose power driving down the road and shut off.
*When you start the car the engine will roar and its sluggish.
      *E brake doesn't work. I'm sure there is more. . . .

This is what she told me about it. . .

i just know i bout got run over cuz i tried to pull out and couldn't
the car just felt heavy and like it was pulling a semi
      know what i mean?
n it made a growly sound
kinda like it does when i start it (races like a jet engine) n u say it shouldn't sound that way but not quite like that if was groany
and i've had an issue or 2 with getting it to start lately too

Least its not the "do-hickie makes a sound"

The Trailblazer has a 2.5" lift, LEDs in the maplights, reverse and tag LEDs, Sony headunit with iPod interface, Hella off-road lights, brush guard. Pulled the molding on the doors off, badges pulled off. More plans in the works.

does the car have any codes? cel on?

it sounds like a battery and ignition (wires, plugs, coil pack) or even map, fuel pump (relay?) or o2, most of the issues will throw a code.

What is the current mileage? If you have not done maintenance until now you might be due for the timing belt, and a few other pieces as well. They wont necessarily fix your problem now, but will prevent other problems in the near future.

      Blazer looks good!

+1 what rabbit says, radio wise I would just pick up a new aftermarket one with a SD card slot or something, CD's are so 2000

Not throwing any codes, and has nothing pending. I have a code reader. Shes pretty up on the maintenance. Did the timing belt around 62k (~73 on the car now). Maybe I'll throw o2 sensor at it, and dump some techron in the gas.

Thanks on the blazer. Been working at it a little at a time. Have bigger plans for it in the future (HIDs, full LED tails, steel bumper) so much want, so little money.

She actually has the upgraded stereo (otherwise this car is BASE) that plays MP3. I'll start looking for a good deal on aftermarket. Or upgrade mine, and give her my old one.. . .

radios are not interchangeable between aveos and trailblazers.

before you spend any money, start the car and mist water over the wires and coil pack, if you see sparks, that is more likely the problem. the o2 will set a code 99.99% of the time.

I have a Sony Xplode in my truck. Pulled the stock radio day after I bought it.

Thanks for the suggestion on misting the engine. I'll give that a try and see what we can come up with.
