      Explorations into the Aveo, 2008

I thought that now would be a good time to show off my mods on an actual thread, so here you go:

Here is a photograph of my newest mod, custom wing mirrors!

I had to make some blanks! I bought some old aveo mirrors, cut them apart and filled in the hole with fiberglass and ABS plastic. Wrapped with carbon fiber vinyl, I feel it completes the sporty (but low cost, aveo style) look. A lot of work, but so worth it!

I have H&R lowering springs, Kics 10mm front spacer and Kics 15mm rear spacers (50mm studs all around), BBS cross-spoked MX-5 14'' rims and I hope to get a rear sway bar soon!

Let me know what you think! I love my box and feedback would be awesome!

Its not really my cup of tea, but it looks like you did a very nice job with it.

      Are they functional out there?

The styling certainly brings back memories of old cars.

Well that is different that's for sure. Not as stupid as stretching tires over wheels. I can't decide if I like them or not. How difficult is it to actually see the mirrors and use them while driving?

      The Mirrors:

I am tall (6 foot 4 inches), thusly I can see both mirrors with ease. However, the shorter folk cannot see the right mirror due to the windshield wiper. Both mirrors are convex, so visibility is somewhat increased around the car, but due to the small size it is also decreased. All in all, they are about the same, unless you have poor vision.

Just an update on my Aveo, I added some bonkers Hella 181s that add intense visibility at night! I was never to happy with the Aveo's stock headlights, but the yellow fogs and headlights are mad! I am also running Motul Oil with no real benefits noted so far despite claimed increase in fuel economy.
