      Phenolic Spacers Anyone?

We started the planning stages for our newest modification for the Aveo, Phenolic Spacers.

      What are they?
      - They are a 1/4" spacer that is placed in between the intake manifold and the head, and in between the throttle body and in the intake manifold.

      What do they do?
      - They are designed to both increase the velocity of the intake runner, helping the air to flow better, and then they also help lower intake air temperatures because the spacer does not heat up like the intake does, so the cooler intake temperatures will give you additional horsepower for the colder air.

      Will I Notice a Difference?
      - The phenolic spacer has been proven to create an average of 3.1 horsepower to your system due to it helping the engine run an average 20 degrees cooler. It has also been proven to shift the power curve to the left about 50rpm, which actually help you in acceleration by getting power sooner.

What is included in the kit?
      - You will receive everything needed to install (minus a brain and handtools). Comes with Stainless Steel manifold and Throttle Body bolts that are lengthened to accomodate the spacer. You will also receive 2 gaskets per spacer, one for each side of the spacer to seal it to the surfaces.

      How much is it?
      - The Phenolic Spacer for the Chevrolet Aveo is $69.99, and comes ready to install.

How many people would be ready to buy? Install in less than an hour and get more horsepower than an underdrive pulley...

It also reduces restrictions because of the "added space."

was skeptical... googled a bit... these things do appear to work, with dyno runs to back it up.

Will the spacer require longer bolts, and if so will they be included. What about hood/firewall clearance? What's up with the drastic price differences I see. 1" Mustang cobra spacers run $50, audi 4cyl run $119... Why would a 4cyl be more expensive than an 8cyl?
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

      Are they port-matched or gasket-matched?

Thing to remember is that spacers don't give you extra HP, it just slows down the amount of HP loss due to heat soak between the block and the IM. And there is less heat transfer to composite manifolds vs metal ones...
1/4" extra runner length isn't going to do anything considering the VGIS, and I'll give you a dollar if you feel a 50 rpm shift in the torque/hp curve.

Also, don't forget that you should bypass the TB coolant routing in order to get the most out of it.

I'm not knocking the spacer, but the claims are getting close to the point of ebayness.

3 HP isn't close the point of a 20 dollar radio shack resistor, lol...

EX - Yes, it comes with Stainless Steel hardware. And the price different is simply supply and demand... Sell 1 at $115 or Sell 20 at $50...

MTLSwift - We usually design them after the gasket, which is matched to the head, but the intake manifold is usually a little smaller. If you request it, we would have no problem making it to the head specs.

I have used these in my Project Ford Probe, and am also creating them for my 240sx, and while mine have both been in addition to an acid ported intake manifold, you can definitely feel the different...

oh, almost forgot... will it come with a new gasket, or will we have to get one elsewhere?

sorry to rain on your parade but they are done already, I have them in the works for the head-intake, GVIS-plenum, and throttle body.

I started on them when at the same time as the 2.0/2.2 CHECK IT OUT

      ...HERE TOO
