Re: Little Engine That Could
Nice car! I'm honestly not a fan of the painted interior, but the wheels look great.
I'd suggest lowering it.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
same rims as me :P
same headlights :P
of course i think it looks good =D>
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
i love the painted interior! want to do that to mine, but I have no clue where to even begin..... :(
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
+1 on lowering it. Nice car... I like your plans for it too. I have the CAI from chromeintakes with K&N cone... And a full versus drift kit. Check out versusmotorsport.com and give them a call. mention that you've heard about their sales and might have seen their ad on LA craigslist and they have some VERY low prices right now...

Re: Little Engine That Could

Re: Little Engine That Could

Re: Little Engine That Could
Nice. I just hope that your local cops won't give you trouble. They seem to like the blue color only on their cars and bikes around here.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
nice~ i got pulled over for blue leds #-o i wish i could have em on because they always look nice in headlamps
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
Really?! I've been waiting for it to see if they would. Your in Texas right? Wonder y they dnt allow it I did research before buying them say said as long as it does not flash or strobe in anyway. Cause I thought blue and red were illegal in Texas. Hmmm was it the license plate light? I drive arous at night for my job on a military post n I've been waiting for them.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could

Re: Little Engine That Could
NEW UPDATE ON MY VEO.
GOT USED 17IN RIMS TSW THEY ARE SRT4 RIMS AND ARE DISCONTINUED...
IT WAS A PROCESS AND AN INTERESTING ONE AT THAT TO GET THEM ON...IF YOU LIKE TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED GO TO FORUM WHEELS, DRIVETRAIN, RIMS. OR WHATEVER AND ITS AND ITS SRT4 RIMS THAT WONT FIT BUT IMMA MAKE IT....
AN EXTREMEMLY LOWERED CIVIC SI WANTED MY 14IN CAUSE HIS 17 SCRAPED THE FENDERS AND ALWAYS CRACKED THEM. HES A FRIEND OF OURS FROM MY HUSBANDS JOB. SO WE SWITCHED THEM. DID IT ALL OUR SELFS AND AT NO COST TO BOTH OF US. MY 14S WERE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE N NO SCRATCHES AT ALL. BUT THE 17S I HAVE NOW ARE PRETTY MESSED UP SO. I NEED TO KNO HOW TO PAINT THEM IF ANYONE HAS SOME THREADS THAT CAN HELP.
IM THINKING GETTING SANDABLE PRIMER. PRIME IT AND SAND IT. THEN APPLY BLACK COATS OF PAINT N THEN A CLEAR COAT. NOT SURE OF CLEAR COAT I THINK I WANT TO KEEP IT A LITTLE BIT ON THE FLAT BLACK SIDE......SO ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE. I LOVE PEOPLES INPUT.

Re: Little Engine That Could
those are nice girl~ =D> i'd leave them alone unless the paint was really needed~
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
Those wheels look great. I would not paint them black with your metallic blue body color, silver looks great.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
Yea it does but it really does need it. Up close its scratched up and just dented alot! Real bad. I would've left them aline if it wasn't so bad. I dnt like my car being rugged like that. Plus my
Theme for my car is all black n blue I'm not fond of chrome or silver I reeeallly dnt like it. I wanted black rims from the get go

Re: Little Engine That Could
Hey Evy, your car is up there now (randomly, as usual)...
http://www.aveoforum.com/phpBB3/styl...l-right-18.jpg
Sorry for the delay. Got struck by a sudden bout of laziness, followed by some computer problems that took me a while to sort out.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
I think the delay was actually good since she had time to put new rims on. 8) Looks better that way. ;)
-
ahh
oooo yes!!!! ahhhhh super stoked about that. idk need a ego booster on my car cause i roll with suped up hondas with my husband!! what what now!! thanks daox
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
No problem at all. Telling Darin (metrompg) to do the work is pretty easy. :)
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
Daox: Shush.
Glad you like it Evy!
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
I like them.......but if you insist on painting them....could you powder coat them instead?
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
It would cost more to powder coat them, plus it could be a longer process too.

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin." The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as "whiteware", aluminium extrusions, and automobile and bicycle parts. Newer technologies allow other materials, such as MDF (medium-density fibreboard), to be powder coated using different methods.

Re: Little Engine That Could
one thing about that, powder coat and properly mixed 2-3 part polymer paint that uses a hardener are about the same in surface durability.
its the voc content, and the electrolysis "wrap" that make it better for most complex shaped parts like wheels and such..

Re: Little Engine That Could
Just get a quote from your local paint shop... tell them what you want done, and they should be able to give you a quote for both... Just make sure you shop around.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
hey, when you got your exhaust, can you tell me the components that you got?
and does it sound too ricey
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
Well actually it wa givin to me straight off a prelude I was at a do it yourself repair shop they have on the military post and I was helping my brother who's a soldier cut off the exhaust pipe and we just sawed it off from the muffler pipe and it was just the exhaust pipe by it self all I did was chop mine off from the aveo and welded and mounted the exhaust pipe. And it really doesn't all that much it does sound A deep soft loud it's not to much and that's what I was looking for. There's no point in it sounded overly loud like a Harley. I'll post a Video soon as I can. But overall I was impressed that all I needed to do was chip and weld just the pipe. I'm
Still trying to wrk on gettin 4-1 headers and put the intake and see if it changes much in sound.
-
Re: Little Engine That Could
the header will make it a little louder, they say about 10% or so... And you might not hear the intake at all since your exhaust is already in place.

Re: Little Engine That Could
UPDATE!!!
Joey Mod completed n successfully installed! Next is hid kit!!

Re: Little Engine That Could
finally after all settled in to my new house......i found the time to do my joey mod and get rid of my annoying projector headlights!....and finally get me a HID kit. n have that bimmer blue light!....
here it is......enjoy....
i took pics of the process.....
instead of doing the oven which i was a little big sceptical about and plus i didnt have no wood or bricks to place them on i used a blow dryer to help melt the exsisting sealant which took ALOT longer than the oven. which i recommend the oven. i just had the time and just not all the materials...
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/3791/joeymod.jpg
this is when i got them apart. after 20 min of prying....
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/2374/joeymod2.jpg
this is the part you paint....if u have more time than i did....its recomended u sand down as much as u can the paint peels off really easily on the smooth chrome paint on it.....so i had to do maybe 5-6 coats to ensure if it did peels it didnt reveal the chrome...
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/1280/joeymod3.jpg
so this is with the first coat of paint and already starting to look good
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/8459/joeymod4.jpg
my husband helping with painting...even though i did most the work myself....
so this is with the first coat of paint and already starting to look good

this is with it finished and ready to put back togeher...i even added a little stripe of blue...thanks to my husband it was his idea.....i love it...one of a kind!!
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/2245/joeymod6.jpg
all done and put back together just waiting for the sealant to dry then i can put them on my car and look hotter than hot....
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6669/joeymod7.jpg
aahhhhh look so good......

Re: Little Engine That Could
You just want to lightly scuff the chrome. If you sand it you will get bad scratches.
I used an etching primer before my first coat of black. To help the paint stick and to help the black lay smoother.
