W-body strength:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwIHRWSULRs
that was a bad video z34, what a waste of 12 mins!!!!
im not sure what this is supposed to prove, How many times a day do you almost get run over by a bull dozer? me? not many..
if you run over most cars with 1/2 a bull dozer the engine and axles would stay intact that much... he's just dragging around the rest of the car especially when it will just get pushed into the ground. This just looks like typical demo derby stuff to me..
agreed.......
love the only monte mods were butterfly doors and oversized rims, very impressive ground clearance haha
z34guy your monte carlo have any mods? ive seen some nice engine work on em
but is still a w body, best car ever! If they are not compatible at all, how can if they be the same platform? you always preach how the platform was so great it lasted 20 years! Well now is sounds like that was you misleading the flock.. if they changed the platform then it didn't last long enough for anything except to pull the wool over admiring misguided people.. Maybe thats why its W body.. for Wool over your eyes...
:P
lmao that is a great point rabbit
Jee! Ur been mean. :( Leave the W cars alone for God sake!
On another note, I love the stupid videos on Youtube. I can go there and find a video about pretty much anything!:D
U guys seen the 'Ricer crashes' videos?
Cars with 'giant' rims look freaking retarded! Someone's missing his childhood 'HotWheels'?
the w body is the best creation by man aveoss, how dare you call them "w cars"!!!!!!
i wonder if z34 goes on lumina sites and talks about how cool aveos are...
If w body is so good, why does it have such a low letter of the alphabet? i mean if they changed the design, the platform designation doesn't matter because its not the same, they might as well called it A body. Thats what real monte carlos were in the first place.
Does the Aveo body(plataform) has a designation?
T-200 for 04-06 Sedans and 04-08 Hatches, T-250 for 07+ Sedans and 09+ Hatches.
not a gm platform so to speak but its a t200 or t250 i believe.
stop posting at the exact same time as me :P save me the trouble of typing on my iphone..
A Body:
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/101_1996.jpg
FWD V6 powered. Cars included the Chevrolet Celebrity (pictured), Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, Pontiac 6000, and a few other less memorable ones. The A-body cars and the RWD G-body Cars (Monte Carlo, Regal, Grand Prix) were replaced by the cars on the W-body.
A-bodies seem to be the worst group of cars I have seen in my life
A body, G body, W body, this **** is comfusing! brushteethI'm brushing my teeth! LOL
lmao, most cars have decent trunk space, and fold down seats anymore, but what makes those A-Z bodies soooooo good?
W-body cars:
1988-1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix
1988-2004 Buick Regal
1990-2001 Chevrolet Lumina
1995-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
1997-2005 Buick Century
1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue
2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse
2000-present Chevrolet Impala
Now for the G-body. The RWD G-body started as the RWD A-body, but following a reorganization of GM was renamed the G-body. 1978-1981 G-bodies were the original RWD A-bodies. G-body cars include:
- Buick Regal (1981–1987)
- Chevrolet El Camino (1981–1987) note: ~200 unsold 1987s reportedly sold as 1988s; unclear if this included GMC Caballeros as well
- Chevrolet Malibu (1981–1983)
- Chevrolet Monte Carlo (1981–1988)
- GMC Caballero (1981–1987)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (1981–1988) note: 1988 model known as Cutlass Supreme Classic
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais (1981–1984)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser (1981–1984)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon (1986–1987)
- Pontiac Bonneville (1981–1986)
- Pontiac Grand Prix (1981–1987)
- Pontiac Grand LeMans (1981–1983)
RWD A-body cars include:
- Buick Century (1978-1981)
- Buick Regal (1978-1987)
- Chevrolet El Camino (1978-1987)
- Chevrolet Malibu (1978-1983)
- Chevrolet Monte Carlo (1978–1988)
- GMC Caballero (1978-1987)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (1978–1988)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais (1978–1984)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser (1978-1983)
- Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon (1978-1981)
- Pontiac Grand Prix (1978–1987)
- Pontiac LeMans (1978-1981)
In 1981 the GM A-body designation was switched to a new mid-size FWD primarily V6-powered platform. Cars on the FWD A-body are:
- 104.5 in wheelbase:
- 1982–1990 Chevrolet Celebrity
- 1982–1988 Pontiac 6000
- 1982–1988 Buick Century
- 1982–1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera/Cruiser
- 104.9 in wheelbase:
- 1989–1991 Pontiac 6000
- 1989–1996 Buick Century
- 1989–1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera/Cruiser
- 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera (final year of the Cutlass Ciera and Cutlass Cruiser, sold without the "Cutlass" name)
Both the RWD G-body and the FWD A-body were replaced by the W-body.... which is being replaced by the Epsilon platform of the new Chevrolet Malibu.
what a bunch of junk!
awe come on, daewoo is practically a household name, i mean they made plenty of microwaves.
but seriously, i think the aveo shows the failure of american labor unions..well specifically the uaw..
and
aveo hard plastic> lumina dildo yellow plastic
the big difference i think you will find is the aveo wasnt trying to be anything but "chevy's" cheap car.. i doubt trying to insult how its built is going to make anyone here think "oh my its not american made?" or "you mean is not built like a bmw?"
U guys need to stop arguing about this W or WTF body is, no one cares...
I know GM own Daewoo and I read on line that the Cruze and Spark are also made by Daewoo. Hyunday just put out a luxury sedan with a inhouse build V8 that produces 385hp for 60k! Rewiers are saying its better than the competition, not bad for a korean company.
lol daewoo also makes tvs still to this day, and are very much alive
and you want to buy an aveo :D
60k could get you a much better real company car, i mean hyundai is ok i supposed if your only going to have it a few years at most, but if you buy a car to last the length of the payments, you should get more than a hyundai, regardless of the number of features.. it how the features are made. I wouldn't want my 60k dollar luxury car to have the same power windows as an accent, or the power locks, key fob, etc. but for the first 50-80k miles i'm sure its a fantastic car, maybe i'll consider buying on when its years old and 12 grand.
Ironically, the Lumina plastics were higher quality, and on the second generation (1995-2001 Lumina and 1995-1999 Monte Carlo), very soft to the touch. And I've NEVER heard of a W-body's plastics turning yellow. I Give the Aveo credit for being a cheap car, but for every insult thrown at the W-body, I can throw one right back about the Aveo. The point is, both cars are good for what they are. The only thing I've ever said about the W-body being better has to do with it's depreciation as most W-bodies are old and can be gotten for the same price as a 3 year old Aveo, and comparatively is better value for your money. For 7 grand you can get a fully loaded Aveo from 2006 or 2007 if you know where to look. Meanwhile the same money will get you a 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (for example) which has a supercharged V6, and MUCH more room than the Aveo, and more features. This is expected due to depreciation. Comparing them year for year, the W-body is about twice the price of an Aveo. I never said the W-body was the best ever. Just that it's good value for money. However, I already have a W-body. For me and Ari, the W-bodies are our toys while the Aveo is seen as a cheap Daily Driver while still supporting the big 3.
haha your getting all defensive..
buy seriously a 2006-2007 aveo could be had for under 5000 (if you know where to look), that is still fully loaded with average miles too.. for 7-8k people were getting close to new with the end of year clearance.
and i see 2003 and down gtp etc going for less the 3k all the time... with what i would conside average mileage /condition with age.
your in the new england pan handle, that drives prices up for cars maintaining decent condition from what ives seen..
if you would look a little further south the prices would come down (especially once past ny state) and probably more than make up for the cost of transportation..
Yes I live in Connecticut. Land of overpriced everything. However, I've dealt with out of state cars at the DMV before. Don't wanna go through that again. My Monte Carlo has been a Connecticut car all it's life (I have the records to prove this) yet for some reason, it has a New York title. don't ask me why, but it gave me hell trying to get it reregistered at the DMV. The car however was a special order so that may explain the title
yeah some states make it hard to buy out of state cars, its pretty easy here in pa, just need the signed title, and proof of vin match (rubbing, picture or bring the car)
took us 3 weeks of paperwork and arguing to get it registered. My registration ended in August. Luckily this time, they didn't give us any trouble reregistering it. I've applied to have the title transfered to a Connecticut title 3 times but nothing. I think they just toss it in a fireplace or something. -_-
DMV horror stories, now thats a topic! However it will probably depress every one so... I had my share in CA, before moving to AR, I used to import motorcycles from overseas and what a nightmare to get them registered, every freaking time I got a new DMV clerk they would not know what to do, it was irritating , than dealing with the HW Patrol, I had to threaten to call their headquarters to get them to aprove the inspection, I mean the law is very clear on what u can and cannot do, but than u get idiots that do this everyday but are not familiar with procedure, it amazed me every time! finaly I gave up importing, the headaches made it not worth while running the business. So there, u wont get another penny out of my business CA, Hahahaha... Jerks! ;)
my car wasn't even imported and they gave me trouble cuz it was titled for another state.
