That agency should be ashamed of themselves.
Aren't there programs in every state to assist those with problems heating their homes?

thats terrible to do to someone. it sounds illegal. there must be a limit between what the company can do to their customers. to me that sounded like murder.

It was in all the papers here in MI. They're definitely checking to see what happened here but it looks like an accident all around

Wow, that's messed up. He was an old man, what do you expect? That's a terrible thing to do to somebody. It happens up here in alaska a lot though, but mostly because people have a hard time affording heating oil for their homes with the way the economy is. They're actually paying the fuel companies and skipping on their mortgages because it takes longer and can get tied up in court for a bit longer when it becomes reposession. I've got a pretty efficient home and in the winter about -40 to -50 I still use about 100 gallons a month which is about 250 bucks. But hopefully soon here our new law will be our fuel prices can be no more than 10% more than WA fuel prices.

i wouldn't complain about that, we have natural gas, it comes out to like $2.20 a cubic unit whatever. and the first winter in my house we had a low of + 5 degrees, and my heating bill was $600 a month.. which is common for our area.

i have since replaced the furnace, did blow in insulation, etc, etc, and got it down to a monthly budget of $180-220 a month, with one month off. but that is with the furnace running for 5 months.. so it is still @ $400 a month..

Yeah, I have an above-ground fuel tank. So, I have to run #1 Diesel in mine otherwise the #2 will gel in the cold. Natural gas is expensive. I'm installing a "Toyo" monitor heater in my home this summer fed off of a 55 gal. gravity feed drum. That should nearly cut my fuel consumption in half every month. Unfortunently they also cast like 1800 bucks lol.

They're saying "Neighbors should look out for each other"... so they're trying to make it sound like it's the neighbor's fault that the old man died??? How about calling him every day to make sure he knows why his power is cutting out???

With our luck, they might raise our fuel prices here in WA too instead of trying to lower yours. J/K, I hope they won't do that, but you know what I mean...
