      lifes little dilemas

had lot of time at work today and thought: if you order food from a restaraunt and have it delivered and they have a delivery fee they charge you, do you still tip the delivery guy/gal?

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

I usually still give them a tip, but just not as large. The delivery fee is to comp them for gas

I tip because I work like everyone else does and I appreciate recieving a tip when I drive a bus taking a group out for the day.

      Re: lifes little dilemas

I used to be a delivery driver for a place that provided the car and gas here in winnipeg, we gave the restaurant a percentage of our tips for the use of the car and gas, usually around 10% of our total tips.
They only charged a delivery fee ($1.75) if the order was under a $25.00. and that goes directly to the restaurant.
I know not all places are like that, but some are, If your not sure you should ask the driver or order taker

For me a good tip was no less than $2, 10-15% of the sub total (not after tax total, although it wouldn't hurt.) on top of the delivery fee since I didn't see any of that.
If you are a regular customer I would be cool with less of a tip as long as you were a nice person to deal with. Nothing worse than going to a place you already know is going to give you zero and have to deal with an asshole.

Yeah I use to drive for Papa John's back in the day when they were good. So whenever someone delivers to me they get a good tip. I'm pleasant! I usually tip $3-$4 but if I have an excess of cash I can go $5-$7 (but again that's if I have extra money and the weather is ****ty)

Tip at least $3-$5, that delivery fee either goes to the place you are ordering from or is split with the driver to cover the non tipping cheap skates

      Re: lifes little dilemas

ive thought about asking the driver, but then im like, anyone with half a brain would say that the delivery charge goes to the restaraunt so they get more $, i still tip at least 3$ because i totally appreciate not having to go get my food.

      Re: lifes little dilemas

I used to get an extra few pennies for each delivery.

Once they added delivery charges, locally. The drivers got a little more, but the Pizza place takes most of the charge.
