Just venting from a hard week
Last Saturday, my small town was shocked at the sudden loss of an amazing teacher when she was struck by a car. Being a small town as it is, everyone's been quiet this week, and theres a definite lack of life in town. Her husband, who was also a teacher at the school, had just gotten home on leave from serving overseas, and was to be home that Sunday. Mrs. Hain was one of those remarkable teachers that you never thought of as one of your teachers, but as a friend. I never had any of her classes, and she never substituted for any of mine, but she still knew my name and would stop to talk like we were old friends, as she did with every student to pass through the school over the years. The funeral for Holley Hain was yesterday, and the lives that she touched was clear, as more than a thousand people packed from wall to wall, through the doors, and into the halls of the Victory Highway church to share stories and find some closure to this sudden tragedy. As we filed through the hallways to the viewing room, people that I've never even seen emotional break down to tears, myself included. Mrs. Hain is an incredibly respected person who touched the lives of thousands of people, and will be missed by all that knew her.
I don't expect anybody to really read through this whole thing or comment, I just still needed to vent somewhere.
