      I got rear ended...

on tuesday while driving my Jeep GC. I was frustrated. I have been driving for 7 years and never had an accident on my record. I know it's not my fault but it is still pretty upseting that my record is blemished. So, heres what happened:

I was going west on a 3 lane hwy. There is a concrete median separating the opposing lanes. As I was approaching where the 3 lanes merge into 2 lanes, a police car went flying by with his lights and siren on going the opposite way. Remember, I said there's a concrete barrier sepearating the opposing lanes, I shouldn't have to worry about the cop car while on my side of the hwy, right? Apparently, the guy in the car ahead of me missed that memo and slams his breaks. I was like s*it! and slammed my brakes and stopped in time to not hit the idiot ahead of me when all of a sudden I heard/felt a bang. I looked up into my rearview mirror and just say the roof of a car behind me. I jumped out of my car and ran back to other car to make sure that the driver was ok when he got out as well. Now heres the kicker, the same cop who flew past us in the oppossing lane saw the crash and came back to help us. I know this cus when the cop asked what happened and I started saying that, "well a cop car was going east with his lights and sirens on..." he interjects with, "yeh that was me." I wanted to slap that cop. Anyway, luckily, nobody needed an ambulance and my jeep had very minor damage. The other guys car was ****ed up decent. I have pics, I will post them in next day or so.

I assume it goes on my record. I would assume that it goes on the same way traffic tix do or in a similar manner. I'm not gonna claim anything. I'll just fix it myself.

you wont have anything then, now if it was your fault and you had to make a claim then thats a different story, unless its a mental thing, in that case just take more pills

of course! Opioids make everything better you make it sound like I abuse them lol! Meh, futz it, why not....? Jk

so as long as I don't claim it, it will not show on my record? At least through the insurance?

nope, they never know, how would they know? Unless they made a police report, and the insurance company got a hold of it somehow, but it wouldnt really matter anyways

do you feel alright, does not look like it was not too bad, is the other person's insurance going to pay for the little damamge you had?

I was just fine. Like I said, my first reaction was to make sure the other driver was ok. It could have been some old lady or sumtin, who knows. I will try to get pics up tomorrow before the day is over.

I'm not sure if other dudes ins will pay for our car to be fixed. I'll give it til next tuesday and if I haven't received a call from them, I will call them.

Wow Mike I'm really sorry that happened but glad everyone is ok. Now you said that you didnt hit anyone but the guy behind you rear-ended you? I dont know about Illinois but here in New York thats called a No Fault. Its the person that rear-ended you thats at fault because he should have left enough space to safely avoid any collision at all. If he damaged your car by hitting your car than his Insurance would be responsible for any damages to your car, and you.

yeh were not a 50/50 state. So.... Maybe I won't do my own repairs then. Hell, if it's free...
