health care up here sucks, you have to wait 5 hours in a emargency room just to see a registed nurse. the reason for that movie was to focus on the bad sides of us health care, and on the good sides of canadian, and french systems. taxes are outrages up here also, 14% on every thong you buy, car insurance for an aveo was 300$ for one way cavrage for a 35 year one female with a perfic record. taxes for a house are even worse, lets just say for the amount you have to pay for a house that alrady yours (no morgege) every month you can rant a 3 bedroom apartment.

i have 2 more years of university, and them im moving to rochester NY for a year to finish my BA degree, and then maybe NY city or jersey.

oh and health care is not 100% free

As a medical student and future Dr. , I pray that we never convert over to a system of socialized medicine. They call it socialized medicine because it is a form of socialism. Medicare and Medicaid are bad enough. Do you want the same people in charge of them to be running health care for everyone?

I have many reasons for being opposed to the system, namely that we live in a capitalist society and it would go completely against the constitution. Being in the medical field, I have a much better understanding of the health care system than anybody can from simply watching a 2 hour propaganda video. I'm not saying that our health care system is perfect, because it isn't. And I am sure there are millions of Canadians out there who love their health care system.

Also, how the heck would I pay off the half a million dollars of loans I'm going to accrue? On a government salary, its not going to happen. Socialized medicine will inevitably lead to a decline in the number of physicians in the US, which won't lead to good health care for anyone.

I could write hundreds of pages on this... but I've got 1 more final left!

Yeah, that can happen here too though. It kinda depends on the hospital, some hospitals have formed programs that require a doctor to see a patient within 30 minutes of their ER visit, or their visit is free/discounted.

Nice, I'm thinking about moving back home to Rochester for my residency if I can in a few years. Good luck with school too.

I'll be in Rochester on Friday to celebrate Christmas with the fam. Its going to be a little tough going from temps in the upper 70s here to temps in the teens and such. Won't have the aveo with me though, flying home.

As for residency, I'll probably put a few apps in there, hopefully for internal medicine and family practice, but match day will ultimately determine where I live for those 3+ years. Its a little tough getting residency spots in Rochester being from an out of state school when U of R med school is right there, along with UB and Upstate medical being pretty close too.

With this you also have to consider that this writer is from ontario. In Alberta, sales tax is 6%, 5% after january 1st. Alberta health care costs me $44 month, perscriptions extra, all doctor visits and blood work covered so far. Car insurance for my wave is $91 mth im 25yrs old with 1 speeding ticket. Taxes in town are $2400 yrly for the place im renting. I;m renting my place in a town of 8000 people before the real estate boom hit alberta so i lucked out at only $660 mth. Now compared to ontario we are cheaper but we get stuck with higher goods prices because of the oil boom in our province. We really need to point the finger at quebec. As they have the cheapest prices and they have a lemon law unlike the rest of canada.
This is to those who say it can not be done... I will break 210kph!

Friggin Quebec. I have to look at you everymorning when I walk out the front door. The biggest Pile of BS in the whole thing is we can't work in quebec but they can work here in Ontario just fine. God dam CCQ. And sign police. WTF. If no one wants to speak your stupid language dont force them. Friggin frenchies. You get cut off in Ottawa 95% of the time there's a quebec lisence plate on there. Drivin around St.Laurent Blv. Your sure to see atleast one frenchy with a fart can and a wing thats taller than the friggin roof of his fracking car. Ok I'm done, just pisses me off. Quebec is a beutiful place, wasted on the french...
