android phones and their crappy spell check.

I have an htc evo shift 4g. I love the phone it does everything i want and more. But the spell check on it is the worst ever. I try to type in sanding and I get Samsung, unless I actually think to tap to add the word to my personal dictionary. That is just one example.

This is the most annoying thing about my phone though, and without spellcheck my typing would likely be unreadable, so I deal with it. But now you know if a word in my posts make no sense, that is probably why.

Also anyone running any other Droid phones have this issue?

Also I love to use the word I'd I don't type in the ' though so it spells id, but every time even with it added to my personal dictionary I get is.

I don't have an android, but I have an Ipod touch and had very similar problems with the automatic spell check on it. It got to the point where I just said "screw it" and disabled the automatic spell check. Good thing I did, because that thing liked to spell check EVERYTHING, and half of what I typed was "wrong", according to the spell check.

mine replaces some words some of the time too. but i do not use it exclusively.

MoneyMike, I know what you mean, I get a lot of words that are not in the spell check but should be.

Rabbit, as I said, if I didn't use mine typing on my phones touch screen would be completely unreadable.

HTC seems to be worse than most Droids. I just got the Commando by Casio not long ago and it just tends to select the wrong word, and it seems to happen more the more comfortable I get with the phone.

There is a setting/crack/app for "swipe" which is where you just slide your finger to all the letters and it writes the word. I'm trying to get warmed up to that as you still occasionally have to select the exact word but it seems to work better on my phone than trying to type everything.

I know. It is a major problem. Have you seen those funny jokes on facebook that are based on this spell check problems. They are hilarious.
