Cool 2005 Aveo rebuild or swap

Getting a used 2005 Aveo from a friend who ran it passed the 60,000 miles and either the belt gave way or the tensioner. We will see in a next weekend when I get the car. Just hope I can keep up with the thread and will post finding and what is going on with the car on a regular basis or as quickly as I can. STAY TUNED.

Looking at an 07 Aveo. What would the difficulty of popping a forenza 2.0 into it and would the ECU read it?

Not quite sure being that I have a second gen aveo with an ecotec, but check out past threads by Nemasys, he actually did it. Both ur first gen aveo and the 2.0 are Daewoo derived engines, and I believe it is a drop in affair, to be certain check out Daewootech.com.

Update: Got the vehicle purchased. This weekend will get the car to the house and will start my detailed inspection of the engine. I was told by the previous owner that she was entering an on ramp when the engine let go and they say the engine is locked up. The husband said the vehicle tensioner is gone but looks like cover has just been pryed back but not removed and he is not generally thought of as a mechanic. I will keep everyone up to date. I will also take pictures of the wiring and even the spark plugs wires so some that are having problems can figure theres out as well. Body is clean and inside is not really bad condition but could use some carpet cleaner. Leaning towards a rebuild because of the relearn but the engine will tell me what it needs when I open that head up. Stay tuned.

Update: Engine cylinder head is out, the bottom half is good and so just a head replacement and i took pictures just have to get to a spot where I can download them it will be up. I will put this in here today and that is first, take the timing cover off top and bottom before you remove anything else. I will put my step by step in pulling the engine cylinder head out tomorrow and update later with pictures. The idler wheel gave way because of it being plastic and that was at 105000 miles.

Ok how do I post those pictures? I have a bit of a pill on how to just do that. I can send them to facebook with no problem can I link it that way or is there another way that is preferable. I have seen some dont even make it. Thanks for your help.
