I have a 2005, replaced the engine with same year, (timing belt broke). Replacement engine is running great BUT on idle is shaking a bit WHY? Replaced plugs, wires, swap coils, swap many sensors, clean intake with seafoam, check valves with vacuum gage (very stable), timing marks ok, clean crank sensor, no vacuum leak, what could it be?
Ran out of options, thinking to take it to the dealer to adjust the timing thru the computer, Any ideas? I getting crazy here thanks
mine does shake a bit on idle as well.
did you switch the tensioners?
i did not.
could be that theyre broken in and the belt is not.

Is the idle abnormally low? Have you looked at the engine mounts? Have you looked at or cleaned up the idle air control valve?
I replaced the timing belt and the idle but no the tensioner, I took the cover today to check timing marks and are good but i notice the tensioner mark is a little bit out of the first mark, but i don't think this can cause a problem because the belt has not skip or jump any tooth. I phone the dealer and they can NOT adjust the timing thru the ECU. Car idle at 830 rmp, ignition timing advance of piston 1 is at 4 deg, jumping from 2 to 8, that is when i notice shaking. what's your timing advance?
no check engine light correct? does it stumble on acceleration at all?
did you use the old fuel injectors or the dried out ones from the junk yard engine?
check or replace the temp switch?
Just FYI, they cannot adjust the timing through the ECU. The only thing I can do really is an idle relearn.
Idle Air Control Valve Reset Procedure
Whenever the battery cable or the Engine Control Module (ECM) connector or the ECM fuse EF22 is disconnected or replaced, the following idle learn procedure must be performed:
- Turn the ignition ON for 5 seconds.
- Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition ON for 5 seconds.
- Start the engine in park/neutral.
- Allow the engine to run until the engine coolant is above 185°F (85°C).
- Turn the A/C ON for 10 seconds, if equipped.
- Turn the A/C OFF for 10 seconds, if equipped.
- If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transaxle, apply the parking brake. While pressing the brake pedal, place the transaxle in D (drive).
- Turn the A/C ON for 10 seconds, if equipped.
- Turn the A/C OFF for 10 seconds, if equipped.
- Turn the ignition OFF. The idle learn procedure is complete.
So if you have a manual transmission with A/C do you have to turn the A/C on and off twice? Also, does this need to be done any time the battery is disconnected?
I am running a can of seafoam in the gas, I am thinking INJECTORS, I have swap them and I did notice a small difference, The idle is not too bad but engine is not running the way should be, it respond really good in hills and when i step in. I will make a connector for the injectors to clean them outside.
imho seafoam has no place in modern day engines. and could be the issue in itself.
But do the idle relearn, and see if that helps as well.

Right so I would skip step 8 but still do step 9 and 10? or are those a continuation of step 8? that's where I'm confused. I know some systems a minor detail like that can make or break the procedure.
