      Timing belt

How difficult is the timing belt to replace? Is this an afternoon job or will I be down all weekend?

Yes, search the excellent write-ups already in the forum. Suggest setting aside 4 to 7 hours unless you're a "pro" or have done it before - less time if you have a good set of tools (jacks, breaker bar, air impact wrench, coolant pump tool, etc), more if you jerry-rig. Heard a mechanic somewhere say they could replace an Aveo timing belt in about 1 hour - I believe it, though probably a bit longer if changing the water pump, too.

+1, just be very careful and take your time.

would it be recommended to replace the cam and crankshaft seals when replacing the timing belt ? im gathering all the parts and already ordered the component kit with a waterpump and seal, so just wondering if i should get anything else. thanks!
