Hi I have never replaced an ecm before. I have received a p2610 code and no power to coil pack or cam sensor.
I need to locate the ecm and remove it. I will be using one from a wrecker, and was wondering if there was an important set of procedures involved or if it was more or less plug and play sort of deal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Have you tried clearing the code? that code can appear if the ECM loses power. I don't know if it is set if it will cut power to those those sensors though. You might also have a bad ground on the block.
From what I can tell it seems if the ecu is the right code, accessories, and everything, it should be plug and play. Based off of posts here, you will have the wrong vin # in the ECU if you need emissions testing or anything like that. But odds are in your favor if you just want it to run.
