How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
This the procedure I followed to test and eventually remove my DRL module. This was originally posted by John (GM Master A.S.E Automotive technician) at "Just Answer". As always, I've added my comments in Red:
The daytime running lamps (DRL) will come ON when:
• The ignition is ON.
• The light is OFF.
• The parking brake is released.
When the exterior lights are ON, the DRL will turn OFF. To turn the DRL OFF when idling, apply the parking brake.
With everything plugged in ,apply the brake with the key on/engine off.The brake light in the dash should light & the headlamps should turn off.If not replace the DRL module.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the instrument panel lower cover (i.e. the panel below the steering wheel column).
Reach underneath the instrument panel and remove the bolts and the daytime running lamp module (this is the black module labelled "Hamsar" - see picture below.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Install new module in reverse order.

Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
Just a little additon (I'm sure it's already covered somewhere in the forum but someone might come across this thread first), if you just want to disable drl's altogether you can just disconnect the wire connector hooked up to that module. And for just disabling the drls you don't need to take off that panel because all you're doing is disconnecting a plug. Always easy to reconnect later too.
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
On top of what Sarega said, the procedure he noted is only for 04-08Aveo5, and 04-06 Aveo Sedan. I'm not sure on the 07-10 Sedans, but I know on the 09-10 Aveo5 you just pull the N/A DRL fuse on the driver's side of the dash.

Thank you Wolfman... I did not specify that. And for 09-10 the procedure is described here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27514
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
Like I said, I think that is only for the Aveo5...we had a guy on the other board with a sedan that had issues trying to disable the DRL's. So, I don't know what works on the 07-10 Sedan.
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
i belive it was based on engine, even though he had a redesign sedan with the newer dash, since it had the etec engine it was the relay drl, but the sedans with the ecotec have the fuse..

Good to know, thanks Rabbit.
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
I have a 08 LS sedan and i found out how to disable the DRL's on my car. You can just pull out the fuse labeled for the DRL's on the driver's side fuse panel.
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
So it sounds like it's the same on 06-10 sedans and 08-10 hatchbacks...
Re: How to Replace the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) Module
My 08 hatch does not have the 'DRL' fuse on the driver side. Gonna look up the module next time i look
