How I removed the front bearing hub on a 2006 Aveo for under $5.00

I bought 2 bolts 1/2" x 3" and nuts. There are 2 (1/2") holes in the hub, turn hub and position them at 12 o'clock and six o'clock. Place the each nut behind the hub and put each bolt through the hub and into the nut, Continue to thread the bolt through the nut until it seats against the knuckle. Hold one nut with a wrench and turn the bolt 1/2 turn, now do the same with the other bolt. Continue repetitions on each bolt until hub comes off. As the bolt threads thru the nut the nut will pull on the hub.

Are the 2 holes in the hub threaded ( metric ) ?

haven't seen any threaded ones. A 1/2" bolt slid right through mine, then put a nut behind the hub.

I was thinking the 2 holes might be threaded ( they would be metric ) . That would allow you to use 2 long bolts , of appropriate diameter & thread pitch ) with out the need for the nuts . I think ?

If you wished , you might be able to thread the 2 existing holes .

I worked on rear brake drums , once that ended up being rusted to the hub . After prying , tapping , beating and banging , I noticed 2 threaded holes in the drum . Searching around I found one metric bolt that fit . Off to the auto store and bought 2 new , longer bolts of the same diameter & thread pitch .

Sprayed some more WD-40 into the holes & carefully started one , then the other bolt into the holes . When they snugged up , I slowly started tightening each bolt 1/2 turn . Alternating between the 2 bolts and tapping on the drum . Soon , there was a pop / crack , when the rust turned loos & the drum popped loose / forward a small fraction of an inch .
