Headlight Joey Mod for 2011 Aveo5/Grill Question

? I want to do this MOD for my aveo, but I was wondering how long the whole process took? Not sure if I should just buy an extra set of stock headlights and just work on them or if the project can be done in one day. Name: chester 5.jpg

I also wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions on the chrome trim around the grill. I was leaning towards it being black. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Could possibly be done in a day, but having an extra set would provide a comfort zone against breaking them.

I will think of a better signature later.

EBay would be quickest if the store you use has some delivery options. Might cost more but speed can be expensive. Otherwise start shopping the scrap yards in your area.

open them up is easy, sealing them back is very challenging,
i have redone it 2 times,
now hope it doest leak anymore,,,,

1 day is probably not enough.... (for me)

what kind of glue will you use when sealing the headlights, and can they be removed later on ?

i have removed all the factory glue from the headlights, but some say i should leave the stock glue on ?

What was the most challenging part for you? getting the fit? so you had leakage the first few times?

As for the glue, I haven't figured that out yet. I'm reading a few other posts in the forum to find out what's worked best so far. I found a few good articles online for other vehicles that had great instructions/material lists as well, so between everything I'm sure I'll figure it out.

My biggest concern is also the resealing....dont want any leaks.

I'll let you know if I hear anything about a good glue.

Yeah, EBay has been the cheapest by far so far. For some reason I can't find many 2011 aveo5 headlights online. I'm guessing cause the models so new. Anyway, I'll keep looking for now :-/

i did mine start to finish in about 3 hours. It can be done in an evening, if you just go do it.

Glue is going to be the make or break of this mod it seems. I will have to go look at glued myself now.

I was reading another set of instructions for a different vehicle but doing the same mod and it said "All weather outdoor clear silicone sealant" not sure if that helps
