One of the dealerships I do some advertising for has said to me on my 08 Aveo 5 Special Value they will install AC labor and everything $1100.00. When I look at buying the Chevy kit which is about $850-900 this seems like a bargain. The Aveo only has 48,000 miles and I plan to maintain it so it does 150-200,000 miles so the investment although not inexpensive is worth it. Any opinions? They said 4 hours start to finish. Wardie
If it's a good deal to you, does it really matter what anyone else thinks?
I did the install myself, used some used parts, and spent about half that price. I think I did pretty well but others have found all used parts and spent significantly less than me. One thing to consider...Since you're beyond your 3/36 warranty, you're going to lose the warranty benefit of the dealer install.
$1100 installed is not bad. I pieces together mine and installed it for less than $500, people are now doing it cheaper as used parts become more readily available (i did mine through 09 when it was a lot of first year only parts).
