I'm guessing that the stock clockspring has all the connections needed for the installation. It would mean unnecessary parts for the manufacturing plants. Lean production would dictate that the same part would be used on all cars.

Hey guys, how about part numbers? I asked my dealer about getting the cruise control put in my car, and they quoted me over $600!!
      I have a 2006 LS Hatch..

      Seriously hate my dealership.

It took me 3 tries to get just the switch from my dealer. They tried telling me they couldn't order it because according to the VIN, the car didn't have cruise. But they tried. First they ordered the headlight switch, then the wiper switch then finally ordered the cruise switch. By far the dumbest dealership I've ever dealt with. As far as part numbers go, the link on the how-to has the numbers but I'm not sure if they are correct.

No question about it. I would have preferred to install the cruise switch on steering wheel same as oem. But find that install on plastic just behind wheel on top of column is very functional. The plastic panel on is easily removed. I did have to remove some of the plastic on the back side of switch so that it would set lower for mounting on the part behind the steering wheel. Had to drill 2 holes for mounting screws and a series of holes for a slot to place wires into switch. None of this was extremely difficult. I just ground or carved a little at a time until the switch conformed better to the plastic piece behind the wheel. I hope that I am describing location adequately. I really like the location and for now would consider it second only to oem steering wheel mount.
Good luck on steering wheel mount. I could not see either electrical or mechanical connection in my 08 after removing air bag.

I'm going to try to do this tomorrow in my 06 svm. I've gone over this so much, I think I could do it in my sleep.
Looks like the Yellow wire in slot one is the hookup for the dash light. and you hook one of the inside terminals from the switch too it.

Im going to try that too. Will I need to add a bulb as well? Is that difficult?

Im a day late though, I got popped for 77 in a 55 the other day! Yuck! cruise should help keep me out of that kind of trouble from here on out.

What size connectors did you use for the switch.
Radio shack only had some 3/16th ones, which seem like there not going to work.

      suggestions anyone?

      Thanks Clint.

I did the hookup yesterday and it didnt work. BUT.... I realize that I bought the wrong size wire taps, and I suspect Im not making contact at the plug. Just ruining the wires! doh!

Hopefully after I get the right taps on there, Ill be in business.

And I hope I didnt ruin the wires!!!

Re: The cruise control DIY thread.

I tried the new wire taps today...still dosent work!

I bought the right switch and hooked it up according to the write-up.

I double checked all the connections.

Fuddled with all the buttons driving home nothing.

Maybe it dosent work on SVM models?? only models it was optional on?
Defective switch?? How the hell will I know?
oh well 25$ down the drain. What a dissapointment.
