Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
Slamdit,
You only need to connect the wires to the plug at the firewall, not the ECM. I did this in my 08 Aveo 5 and it works like factory cruise. I used the negative wire from some speaker wire I had that had small spade connectors already connected and put shink wrap tube on them for isolation. Connect them to the 2 outer pins as the post says and then connect to the two green/white wires at the plug and presto, cruise control.
Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
Ok so I go to my GM dealer and ask them to order me a cruise control switch for my 07 Aveo 5 SVM? Then follow the Guide listed above and it should work just like a factory install? Just want to be sure. We have the 2 Aveo and are still getting killed by the gas prices so any help would be GREAT!!!

what year is your aveo?
Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
I have to get this done soon! It would definitely improve on gas milage and also would relax my foot on highway drives which is about 60% of what I do!
Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
Mine are both 07's, is there a part number for the switch? That would make it all alot easier.

Is your car a manual tranny? Does it make a difference? So this thing works like a factory one. You press the brakes or clutch it comes off?
Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
Bigs,
Yes my car is a manual tranny. Don't think it matters. Yes works like factory, touch brakes or clutch and it disengages, coast and accelerate work too. I have to give credit to khan4tist for this as it was his post that had the link to the old board with the info for the part number and wires to tap. This is a really simple, CHEAP, and must do mod if you do not have cruise control. It works believe me you will be glad you did it. I can't live without it.
Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
This is the link I used. Again credit to khan4tist for finding it originally.

Re: The cruise control DIY thread.
So I don't even need to go under the hood? This can be done all inside the car? Is the hearness prewired wven if there is no cruise? This is what I get from that link. I want to make sure before I crew something up!
Thanks for all this info!

Yes as far as the 2006 Aveos go it can be done without going under the hood....I dont know about the 2008 Aveo sedans though, they might have a different wiring setup. But I'd bet my bottom dollar that you can still do this mod on 2008 Aveos if you find the right scehmatics.
