Airbag Light On - Passenger Airbag Relay Fault

Can anyone help me with a write up of how to check the Passenger Airbag Relay? My 05 Aveo will not pass inspection with this damn airbag light on.

I know, disconnect battery, but how do you get the cover off without damaging anything. My guess is that it has a couple clips holding it in and just got to pry it off, but wanted to double check first.

I'm hoping that there's an actual airbag in there... don't really know since I bought it used.

EDIT: btw, reset the computer and the light immediately came back on

Are you even sure where the passenger bag relay is? My guess is its not under the airbag cover.

Also, I believe its illegal to drive/sell a car without a functional airbag system (assuming the vehicle came with one).

Even if it was, I doubt you could get him to do anything about it. Also I'm not sure of the laws specifics. It might only be that you can't replace an airbag equipped vehicle with non-airbag components (like an aftermarket steering wheel).

How do you know its the passenger airbag relay?

If that is what is wrong, I'd probably try to find a service manual to figure out where the relay is. My guess is its behind the glove box. I recently learned Chiltons has an online manual. The subscription fee is fairly decent IMO. It shoulld have the info you are looking for.

Hey bro, I have a topic where I fixed the airbag light, you probably have a bad controller if you get an obdii it would say cannot connect to controller that would tell you it's the controller and not the other stuff you mentioned. I've read you can look under the seat and make sure the connections are secure first but in my case I fired the controller you need to remove it and send it to myairbags.com in georgia... regardless of them being psychos with Pres Chump but that's another story... 68.00 they will fix it in 24 hours and you'll be good.
