2010 chevrolet aveo LT
Seat BELT fails to always fully retract after leaving seat of car and always hangs over door sill getting stuck when door closes. i have cleaned the strap with soap and water but still does same.
IS THERE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM OR IS IT NORMAL OPERATION FOR ALL?

It's something normal in old cars.
You can fix it aplying some silicone lubricant to the belt, just try to avoid spraying other parts of the car or your clothes, because it stains, reflects a lot, and it's difficult to remove.

You will probably have to take the door pillar apart to get to the retractor. Most likely you’ll find it gummed up with all sorts of crap that’s keeping it from working to its potential. Clean it up and see what happens.
if you silicone the belt, it’ll stain your clothing for years.

These cars are tin cans, but taking this into account they are easy to work on with plentiful and inexpensive parts. Mine s a 2004 with 300,000 miles on it. Yeah it needs TLC now and again. I schedule maintenance before things fail. This is critical to help against F.O.R.D. syndrome (Found On Road Dead)…
