Hey guys......what about If I bought a code reader? I could hook it up take the car for a drive and when it dies if it does, I will have the code. Just a thought. ;)
If that is a good idea, what would be a middle of the road for one that I could use on my 07 Silverado also

I once had a 1991 Audi that acted much like that and left me stranded several times one summer. We never solved it and I ended up buying my 2008 Chevy Aveo LS new - just like yours. Problems only at highway speeds would seem as if it is overheating but at that speed, the wind will cool your engine. Maybe having a code reader readily accessible while it occurs could help but even if it does not, I'm sure it would not be a bad investment for future problems.

cleako, not a bad idea to have a code reader for future problems. I just don't know which one to buy and not break the bank. The Aveo doesn't leave us stranded because it starts right back up. It died 7 times the other day and it hasn't died in three days :(

a code reader only tells you what code is stored in the computer after a code is set off.so if a code is set in comp you can read it right now,not after you break down.i own a code reader they are called ob2 code readers for most cars made after 1996.so when your engine quits again code reader wont pop out magic genie to tell you what the problem is.why dont you swing by an auto store(free at autozone) and get them to check to see if there are any stored codes on the car now, usually the engine light or hold light will be on if there are any stored codes but you never know.around here you can get a code reader 30-50 dollars on sale

charlieb, the only code on there right now is a PO131(02 SENSOR). I had it scanned at the dealership last Monday when they had the car all day after it quit last Sunday. Here is a longgggggg shot..........could it be the solenoid by the evap cannister giving me fits?

Autozone also sells code readers. What is cool is that you can register on their website and add your car. They will then pull up all of their compatible inventory for that car.

Oooooooooo, good idea, cleako. I will check it out. Thanks

Well, I registered my Aveo with AUTOZONE and under the problem section of "STALLING WHILE DRIVING" it turned up to INSPECT THE CARB. Any thought on this?????

thehunterooo, I am starting to think that way towards the carb, but in this day and age it is usually something computerized. What would you check on the carb???
