What shocks to use with lowering springs?

Im looking to lower my 09 Aveo 5, but I'm having trouble finding replacement shocks and struts to match the lower ride height.

I did a search on the topic and read that some of you use the KYB replacement shocks. however, since those are factory "replacements", wont they wear out just as quickly as if i left the stock dampers?

What do the rest of you do? I don't want to drive on the stock dampers once the car is lowered. I want to get the best performance and ride quality possible, so i feel that matching shorter dampers are a necessity. I'm thinking of lowering it about 1.5"-2" so any input would be greatly appreciated.

      thanks!

There are no shorter shocks, only stock replacement.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Im affraid you have no alternatives then KYB when it comes to replacement shocks and struts, they perform much better then OE replacements tho.

If you want the best, you will need to speak with petrified rabbit, he sells a conversion kit that makes it possible to use volkswagen coilovers, with coilovers you will have complete control over your suspension setup, depending on the actual kit you choose of course... You can go with cheap 300 dollar ebay coilovers or the high end 1500-2000 dollar "whatever" brand name stuff.

But for the price of a set of lowering springs plus shocks and struts, you can pick up a very nice mid-range priced set of coilovers!

Thanks for the input! Are Volkswagen coilovers the only ones that will fit considering the conversion kit? Can you suggest any mid range priced coilovers in the $400-$600 range? If going to coilovers can be the same price as springs+shocks, that looks like the way I want to go.

That is the link the coilover discussion. I would have converted already (or bought stuff) when my damn filling fell out my tooth and now costing 2K (cap and now root canal). Rabbits list a set of brands that are applicable and which model VW that translate well to Aveo.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
