Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
Hello
question...
I have stock alloys with 185/60/r14
the front has 4/32 left and the back has 2/32 left...
My friend gave me two firehawk 195/60r14 and they are in great condition however I dont know if 195 will be to wide...
Im worried about rubbing or alingment ...plus they would be wider then the 185 tires......
Reason is I dont want to spend 25 bucks per tire to mount and balance only to find out im SOL
Thanks....
Re: Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
people are running 205 16's and 17's so you wouldn't rub. but if you are going to use those. ABS might have issues? i think tires have to be within 3% so you should be fine. but just a warning.
i would also put them on the back.
Re: Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
The ABS should not be that much of an issue. You will probably end up stopping faster due to more rubber to the ground and not being worn even though it will slip a little more because of the imbalance of the tire size.
Re: Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
the only reason i am warning him about the abs is i put staggered tires on my mustang. i forget the exact sizes (been 5 years) but im 99% sure it was a 235/35r20 front and a 275/30r20 rear and anytime i got to highways speed the traction control light would start blinking, and any time i touched the brake pedal the abs light would stay on.

Get another set of matching tires. I ran 195/50/14's for about 15,000 miles (azenis 615's) and had no problems with rubbing, ride quality was better than stock tires and the grip was considerably better than stock.
Do you even have ABS? If not, then no worries about throwing it off.
Re: Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
I dont think I have ABS
So it sounds like i should put them on the back of the car?
I dont have the current cash flow to snag another pair of 195/60 r14 firehawks but could my breaking ability be reduced?
Re: Tire size question 185/60r14 to 195/60r14
if you dont have ABS you will be fine to run them on the back.
if you put them on the front i "think" you will increase the understeer. but you might cause oversteer.
your braking wont be that affected by the tire size or weight
(a 14 inch wheel with those size tires probably weighs about the same anyhow)

Odd, those tire sizes are EXACTLY the same size. They are perfect for each other.

I run 195/60R14's all the way round as my winter set, no problems at all.
