I have Eibach on mine. No kyb shocks thinking they will just leak out as oe did.
As far as I heard, Eibach has the harder sportier ride less comfort, HR and BG have a more comfortable compliant ride with less stifness. I'm going with Eibach cose I want the best handling possible with my low pro tires... As far as the KYB should be at least better than the OEM units.
Aftermarket Barina dampners might be worth a look. Even stock springs/shocks on the sportiest Barina would be an improvement. I wouldn't recommend the stiffest springs with your low-pros unless ground clearance is an issue. Otherwise with the stiffer/lower sidewalls you'd want at least a little compliance to follow irregularities in the road rather than simply washboard over them and lose grip.
Steve
Cool, thnks for the imfo... I just heard that about the Eibach, I'm so sick of the stock soft spring, I worry about putting the other brands and end up with a car that still too soft... I got 205/40r17 on it, may go with 45' next but not any higher.
That is quite a reduction even from the so-called performance or plus 1 combination for the Aveo at 15" by 195/55 combination. Part of your "suspension" is tire compliance and 40's, even 45's, are rubber bands. Very little give. It would be useful to know if your corner weight ( wheel/tire ) combo is heavier than stock and what the listed compression/rebound rates are for the springs in question you are considering.`
Steve
where is the best place to buy the eibach springs from? ebay?
and another thing
all i need to lower my car is just those springs right? i dont need any other parts?
just cut your springs YO
Don't cut your springs. Get decent ones with the proper engineering and the ride height you want. H&R would probably be your best bet with a ride that preserves the best feature of the stock unmodified springs, very good ride in class.
Steve
In fact, my plan is to get H&R's .25-.75" height reduction stock replacements along with slightly shorter aftermarket shocks for atotal drop ( including 1/3" drop from a lower profile tire/wheel +1 package ) for a total drop in the range of 1.06- 1.56".
Steve
if you went on the import fourms they would say cut the springs, so I am assuming that it is good?
I belive the 17' are lighter since they are Alloy and a six spoke design, witch means lots of 'open' area in the rims face compared to the stock solid steel. 15's are just too small in my opinion, but I would consider 55' series tires for my 17's.
Since the swap the car handles 100% better even with stock springs, I can take corners very fast with great grip(so long I watch the HAPPY rear end). The ride is stiffer but not as bad as I expected, to me performance over comfort always! What is irritating is that the front springs on the Aveo are really not soft, the rears are the problem, they sole are responsable for the Aveo 'corner Dancing', yes, theres less weigh in the rear so they got to be softer but this OEM coils are like efen Jello! What gives? Any idiot can notice as far as spring rate the front and rear are poorely matched, another 'GENIUS ENGINER' blunder...if we could just replace the rear springs I bet the handling would improve greatly.
Probably Tokico or KYB, perhaps Koni. Whomever carries shocks/struts for the Aveo and carries a model with shorter than stock strut shafts and shock shafts. If you look they are available with shorter shafts for other cars like Koni's from ATP for the Prelude for example. 20mm shorter. I imagine digging around for Aveo bits can net what I'm looking for. If not, I'll find units for another model that fit and are shorter. When I find 'em and am ready to install, I'll post the details here.

Check this out:Table of Wheel Weights
In any event regarding springs just get a matched set. They are engineered to work together and will have a more intelligent balance than stock if an imbalance exists with the factory pieces. The situation you cite may also be exacerbated by an optioned out car with front heavy a/c, fan, evaporator, bigger wheels, fog-lamps, moonroof, and abs.
Steve
so which is the best springs to buy for the lowest ride and the stiffest ride? i heard eibach is best. I hate the lean on the factory springs.. its awful. what about h&r and b&g? also is the only thing i need to buy just the springs? or do i need other parts too?
not to sound harsh, but i suggest you do some reading here before posting, you first post about h&r oem replacements or what with @ 1/2" drop do not exist. the only springs available from any manufacturer are sport class spring with around an 1 1/2" drop.. there is only kyb gr2, monroe and oem as strut choices, for aveos. If you want to take time to try fitting something else feel free, its been done and posted about.
i liked my h&r.. most drop advertised i believe as well. Depending on your miles i would buy new strut mounts just to replace those. for the price of just springs however you could be most of the way to so much more, depending on compromise of "comfort" versus handling and dropyou are willing to take.
Reread your post and got rid of a harsh reply, as I don't like being messed with, as I've dealt with that bs on other boards, and frankly, homey don't play. However, I see what you are saying and am taking another tack. You'll forgive me if I "believe you, but will verify on my own regarding what the spring manufacturers offer. As stated before, whatever way I find what I'm seeking, whether originally for the Aveo, or not, I'll post about it.
Steve
ps, just got some GM certified aftermarket parts from a dealer in AZ that the dealer in my town in CA said didn't exist. For example just got side moldings that are very similar to the Australian and Korean cars. This dealer also has the GM sanctioned spoiler for a 2008 Aveo5 for 160 bucks. pretty cool because it has a G.M. part number
i've made what is out there..

its failure on your part for not reading the forums and posting assuming you know something others dont.
Not really. I'd suggest you back off.
Steve
Matter of fact, piss off.
Steve
ok then.
+1 on H&R for the lowest drop... they're pretty stiff too... And KYBs are a very good replacement for our shocks/struts... they're two-way instead of one-way OEM ones... If I was to re-do it all over again, I'd get the coil overs from VW that petrified.rabbit has going... I'd still keep all four of my UltraRacing bars... :D
they make bolt on coilovers for the aveo in singapore, wonder if xiaogary can ship those over
oh and piss off is a little harsh, rabbit knows his aveos
What's up with this week biquireing.
Ur all Bitc..s on the 'RAG?' LOL
i heard that eibach is stiffer tho? so what do you recommend i get?? h&r, b&g, or eibach? if h&r is only like .1 or .2 of an inch lower than eibach , id rather get eibach
also, those other items someone said i should get as well (can you tell me what they were)
anyways those items.. if i get the springs, cant i just get those other things later?
I may personally not like the reason why I'm now motivated to dig deeper on everything from springs to brakes but my suggestion to you would be to call or write the spring makers to get the spring rates. Then compare that information to owner feedback to get the most accurate picture of which springs to go with. Checking out the Daewoo and Holden forums would be helpful too as it looks like owners of similar platforms in other parts of the world have done alot of modifying.
Steve
Oops, meant to quote zaklax13, not Serega.

im just wondering, if i got the eibachs ( i heard that eibach is stiffer than h&r ).. well would the eibachs be bad for audio equipment? because i mean there would be more vibration and bumps from holes in the road and would this damage the audio stuff? i dont think it would tho because when you have a sub woofer.. theres a LOT of vibration going on ;)
anyways overall.. whats the best springs to get h&r, eibach, or b&g?? can you guys tell me your answer and then say why.
Thanks
Is there a stiffer OE ride height spring out there or does anyone know a way to conjure up a way to block the stock springs to make them stiffer in the rear. I want the ride height to stay the same but I want the back to be like a brick and I can only find stiffer springs that will lower the car. I have a gutted 2008 aveo5.
gutted? as in removed the back seat??
For what it is worth, I have the eibach sportline springs, mated up KYB GR2 rear shocks and KYB excell2 front struts, sitting on 17" enkei RS6 rims wrapped with 205/40 R17 nitto neogens not too mention a hatch full of audio equipment. The ride is pretty good, handling is amazing. A few days ago I took the car on a 5 hour (one way) trip. I was very impressed at how well the aveo drove for that time frame
gutted as in, rear seats, all harnesses removed from rear, all stereo removed, rear wiper motor removed all plastic interior removed except main dash and bezel around gauges, rear window gears and panels removed and windows bolted up, Kosei K1 15inch wheels which are the lightest wheels available on tire-rack
