Has anyone ever replaced the rack and pinion assembly? Mine is bad and I was wondering if I can do this myself?
Yes I know I will need a front end alignment when done.
Is this a big job?
Thanks

BTW you will need a front end alignment after!! :)
Try it now.
Thanks! That will help a Lot! I'll let you know how it goes. I got quoted $2000 from Dealer to do this job.
$2000 is insane..
how do you know your rack is bad? what is the diagnosis? I only ask because it could be a few other easier things that are more common and not just noticeable.
My Dealer told Me. I got lifetime inspections when I bought the car in Bridgeville. They said the left inner tie rod end is bad and it cant be replace you have to replace the entire assembly.
So I was going to get the entire assembly plus the 2 outer tie rod ends to make it easier.
I haven't done anything yet. Weighing all My options. It also needs tires and for some reason for the last 2 years it blows a headlight every 4 months
I may just say screw it and trade it in. I have till the end of the month to figure it out.
