chattering noise from front right of car

Hey guys. I switched my suspension back to the stock struts and after I did the front right makes a chattering noise whenever there is imperfections on the road, however slight. I can't seem to locate the source. Any ideas? I didn't have this problem before I switched to coils or while I had coils

Did you replace the strut mount/bushing? The big hunk or rubber and the little bearing under it? One of mine was all out of shape from a jammed and bent strut and when I put the new one in it wouldn't seat right. Caused the same kinda problem.

I didn't use it with the coilovers so I didn't replace it. You think that's the issue?

Probably. Jack it up on the opposite side, causing the bad side to compress. The the little metal plate under the bolt still contact the frame? If no the doughnut thing is messed up. Of course as with all things suspension, if you do one side you had better do the other.

Yeah for sure on the second part. I think maybe the rubber swelled from storage? It doesn't contact the frame even without it jacked up when I just took a look at it

Also 2 things worth noting. My sway bar is not hooked up (maybe it is hitting something?) And the gap on the top metal pieces is maybe 1/4-3/8in both sides

Well I would hook up the sway bar on principle, but that would hit on both sides. If the rubber mount, the frame, and the upper plate don't sandwich when you tighten the nut then your struts just can't work right. For every bump you hit, big or small it has the 1/4-3/8 you see plus some compression room to move. Leave it that way long enough and it will punch through the flimsy metal.

Yup, rubber mount goes under. But it takes away length of the rod while adding length between its nut and the top nut. Basically, your top nut is bottoming out on the lower nut before the rubber mount fully squishes against the frames on the bottom and the metal plate on the top.
