Beefing up stock suspension...
I was doing some reading around and noticed that you could swap out the 2005 sways for some new beefyer ones off the 2008 aveo... if you do have a 2005 you can help but notice how they are about as thick as a pencil... I found i can order the Polyurethane mounts online for a very good price... Also saw a how to on making your own Chassis Braces with some electrical conduit and 2"in sheet aluminum... Please give me some feed back
Oh and i want a FabX front end custom sway bar!!
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
Ultra Racing makes a few braces (and a rear swaybar) for the Aveo. They have a few US distributors and two (throwdown racing & next gen tuning) are advertisers here.
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
the conduit front brace is actually an good piece in addition to the the other one, they work on different principles.
if i had the choice of a "finished" piece in the design of the conduit piece as opposed to the ultra racing piece, i would pick the conduit design.
That said, i am making my own.

Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
i know what you were referring to (if that was to me) subachad wrote that..
i prefer that location for the bar as opposed to the ultra racing bar.. and wish a chromoly purchasable one was available, but since it isnt i will make one.
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
yeah I think Im going to make one myself... Now all I need are the tools to do it! haha
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
conduit can be bent by hand
do you really think it will be strong enough to stiffen up your suspension
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
its been proven to work even with conduit, it doesn't experience torsion or perpendicular forces, just a lateral force along the length of tube..
but i would prefer a chromoly version myself.
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
I PM'd Subachad a few months ago about his design, he gave me the specs on it and I have since slowly been making some very similar in design, but out of sch80 Alum.
Re: Beefing up stock suspension...
I was thinking of using conduit for the brace behind my rear seats in my hatch... I figure it should work just fine but now have to think of some way to make or find some braces to attact it to the wheel well
