      Tachometer needle fell..

Got in the car yesterday and the tech needle was way below the "0" and when I drove, it was way low..like hummm

took apart the instrument cluster removed needle and placed it where it should be...only thing that I can explain it with is we have had record heat and maybe it was loose and moved?? No clue, seems like it was snug and when I reinstalled seemed snug. Was going to add a whisker of crazy glue but was hesitant.

      Ideas?

UPDATE: Today first start the tach needle didn't budge, 2nd and many subsequent starts it was fine. Thinking it may be in it's way out, so looking into a new instrument cluster assy. There are several on eBay..
wondering 2 things, 1 is is the mileage stored in cluster or ECM? also some list for car /o cruise...possible cruise gets signal from IC?

Mileage is stored in the cluster only.
Make sure you get all relevant part numbers off your unit when you order a replacement to make sure it matches. There are multiple clusters that will not interchange even though they look correct.

What Car And model and year sometimes that makes the difference

I have a weird car Pontiac G3 2009 has a 2010 motor and a 2011 ECM I got the clock spring from a car with cruise control and audio control from a 2011 Aveo 5 Hatch back got a steering wheel used with the appropriate mounts for the switches and then the switches also swapped out the instrument cluster from a Aveo 5 same one the clock spring came out of with cruise control and the one that has the milage calculation and distance to empty taller display it was all plug and play cruise works and the shows up on the dash only thing that does not work is the outside temp in the dash as my car is not wired for it and does not have the sensor

I was hoping it was stored in the ECM or another module

Tach is intermittent, today I left the dash panels off to get to the tach needle as needed. Plan was to possible take cluster apart and resolder any location that looks questionable. I did that with the clock and had success.
Not sure if it may be an intermittent connection or the the tach motor itself...

Driving the tach at 0 makes me feel like I am driving a dead car...
