sub question.
Got new subs. 4000watt amp. All wired correctly. Worked fine for a week.
Today they stopped working.
The amp insignia is backlit and still lights up.
And the amp hums slightly as if it is working.
(It has always done this)
But neither the power nor the protect light light up at all.
The car runs fine.
Could this be a result of needing a high output alternator?
I am allso using smaller gauge power and ground wires than recommended.
I'm not sure if that could also be a factor.?
Any solutions to get me bumping again?

I would check the remote wire, rcas, and wires going to subs. Check the subs to see if blown.
If you have a dmm check voltage to amp.

Sounds like remote wire to me

I would suggest going with the recommended wire gage for the power and ground, they are pretty essential... Make sure that your ground is properly connected, check the fuse on the power wire to ensure that it is not blown, check the fuse on the amp as well.

it turned out to be the wiring.
i am glad that the problem was solved with the easiest solution.
thats something that you dont get too often.
