      Stupid Stupid Stupid!! help me

      so i have a 2008 Aveo5 (thats a 2008 hatchback, not a sedan, or a 2004-2007, its a 2008 hatchback)
and i have looked in numerous places for a wire harness. to no end i searched, and eventually i gave up because no where NO WHERE!!!! can i find the CORRECT harness. so i said "**** it! i will just cut the factory wires"

sadly not even that worked; the JVC unit didnt work at all. i just screwed myself over even more. so i went back the the factory am/fm tuner POS! and after i put the wires back together and turned the car on....the stereo didnt work. it lights up, but there is no power. wtf am i to do??

I have seen this happen one other time with Hyundai .. using (JVC, and factory) .. if I remember correctly.. I re-sodered the actual plastic piece back in place.. and prob solved... then we bought a pioneer... it was either that or.. like a simple fuse.. i cant remember.

The harness is for a Daewoo .. this technically speaking arnt Chevy

another prob i forgot to mention is:

      - that ever since i reconnected it, my tire pressure light is on now, and all my tires are perfectly inflated.
      - and my clock keeps resetting itself.

Best to start over dude. Here is a link to the kit I bought on Ebay. I've got an Aveo5 '08 too. But, I've got a pioneer AVH-P5900 DVD

http://tinyurl.com/5bo3mn It's for a single DIN unit. There is also a double DIN unit available at his storefront.

      The instructions are very good.

Hook your wires back up the way they were and start over.

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Re: Stupid Stupid Stupid!! help me

i did the battery and the fuse check and still i lost to no avail.

but with in the past 3 hours, i gave up and decided to go to a stereo place that totally did a job on it and POW its working now.
no clock malfunctions or tire lights, so i am happy even though i just blew $170.

thanks for throwing tips at me though.

Re: Stupid Stupid Stupid!! help me

Man, it's a bummer when stuff like that happens. And it is always a hard (and expensive) lesson to learn.
I have more or less given up on doing my own stereo work. And I used to work at a stereo shop. I will build a box, because I know the specs and know how I want it constructed, I will install a speaker into that box, mount an amp and all that, but for the rest of it, I just take it to the nearest professional stereo shop and have them do the wiring.
At least if it is done by a pro, if it jacks up my car, I can take it to them and say "Look what you did!" Most times, if it is possible that the problem is due to their installation, they will pay for the repairs. Better than having a lawsuit in most cases.
Not to mention, a professional shop will guarantee their work.

I am glad you got your radio back in the relm of the living. And I know you will hear this a thousand times, but Bro, be careful!
