Speakers stopped working, no signal from wires

So the better half had her aveo out when the skies decided to randomly open up for a nice refreshing 5-minute downpour (it's CT...no summer day is saved from rain) and no longer has any output from her speakers. Head unit seems to be working perfectly, no sign of wear or damage on the fuses. Figuring maybe the weather just pushed the 14yr-old paper cones over the edge, we picked up a new pair of speakers, and still have no output. Tested the new speakers (and the old as a reference) with the amp in my jeep, new speakers are fine. I think I'm chasing a ground issue somewhere, but I honestly don't know where to start with this car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to narrow it down to the point of failure. I would first start with the fuse. The water may have triggered the fuse to blow and that is an easy fix. Second I would make sure that the head unit works with new wires ran to your existing speakers. If that doesn't do the trick I would recommend running it to known good speakers. If that doesn't work it would sound like your head unit is blown or your wiring went bad. The fuse should protect everything so if it did its job your fine.
