find the plug beneath your seat -> disconnect it and see if there is a response while driving without seatbelt (please be safe while driving without a seatbelt stairing at the console... :eek:
EDIT: with the plug disconnected you can drive with your seatbelt fastened and it should still chime and display the light... ill test it on my car today
Thank you. The problem is that the symbol does not light or appear in the instrument cluster. So that there is no response from the plug under the seatQuote:

this means you could short the plug part that goes down into the carpet and see if that does it.
your fastening thing with the red button on it might not be closing the circuit properly
so try shorting the plugs while the ignition is on and see if that does it.

Unfortunatly it gets pretty complicated if the circuit is damaged.
Have you checked the fuses?
