No one has talked about an aveo arm rest???

      So...

I've been sitting (well, not literally...)on an arm rest I purchased from Swirek on Ebay. Been meaning to install it but with winter and laziness I still haven't done it. I know I also owe you all pics of the cruise control I had installed so, i'll add the pics of the arm rest as well... sooner or later(prbly later)I'll get to it... spring is almost here in sunny northern cali! Ha!

      hailz!

I have it, just no pics. The good thing is that the height matches the door arm rest perfectly. Also, my dark charcoal one matches the dark interior of my Swift. what isn't so good is that the center console isn't super sturdy which then results in an armrest that's not the most sturdy either, but it does the job. I might get the guy at Compact Divisions to mold a CF cover for the armrest to pseudo-match the fake CF on the door arm rests.

I know the seats in the newer models have provision for a seat-mounted driver's armrest... I also noticed for the Suzuki SX4 that the oem armrest (you have to buy it as an accessory) bolts on through the rear cup holder on their center console, which is similarly designed to the Aveo/Swifts... It might well fit, depending on height/length/width.

Theres been talk of it. You can get a seat from 07+ models with an arm rest. Could be cheap if you manage to find one in a yard, but not likely.

      Thanks for posting!

The one I have was made in Europe according to the seller. It looks very nice, has a dark gray leather arm rest. The inside is coated with that black spray liner, and the support below the arm rest is a light gray finish. The support and arm rest is a plastic similar to the console albeit lighter guage. I will say that is seems flimsy but, I have not installed it yet. Also it seems that the unit may not handle the full force of someone leaning on it.

Two nice features are the abililty to fold the arm rest up and out of the way and the cutout on the right side allowing access to the power port on the console. Of course the outlet can also be accessed by folding the arm up.

I'm sorry I have not installed the arm rest yet so I don't have pics. Up until that point, I cannot make comment about how sturdy it is or is not.

Here is the link to the arm rest:

And here is another in canada which I think is the same person:

this one here you can see the cutout for the power outlet access.

      cheers!

Nope. It's the same one I have, and doesn't cover up the rear cupholder.
Like I said, the armrest is plenty sturdy, a nice design, right height. The center console itself is not so sturdy, so there's some side-to-side flex.

im sure you could build some brackets for inside the center console with sheet metal

      arm rest

      Ok,

I installed it. It looks good. It supports your arm quite well. It's as sturdy as the console itself, which wobbles. As far as the rear cup holder, it does not cover it at all. The object of the installation is to make sure you have access to the power outlet. What I did was place the outlet in the center of the arm rests opening. That was my gauge, which placed the rear of the arm rest about 1" ahead of the cup holder.(I certainly wouldn't place a cup in there)

As far as the action of the arm rest, the arm rest function is very good. The additional work involved is the raising and lowering of the arm in order to set and release the parking brake.

I'll try to get a pic later today... my lady is out trying it out(read: shopping!).
