      my setup for now

      just got a 12" 700W, 350 rms sub in a sealed box.

still have a the stock mp3 deck (by the way stock deck is 45Wx4), so the sub is powered by the wires from the rear right speaker. i know that thats crap, but i can't aford a new deck and an amp.

Question: my friend told me that i will kill the sub by running it like that, caz it doen't get enough power to move to cone to cool the voice coil. is that true?

you NEED an amp, it won't play 1/100000th the bass it would with an amp, its like having a 45 watt amp which is quite small, you shouldn't hurt anything but why have a sub if you dont have an amp ya know? go and find a cheap used amp and wiring kit and you'll be a lot better off, try 200-400 watts for good solid and not too obnoxious bass.

another note for u when u do get an amp. if u plan on runnin off the stock cd player, make sure you get an amp that will accept high level in puts. also u can get an amp pretty cheap from wal mart as well. i dont know what aveosummit has to offer but def check him out too.

also i need some advice. i am currently runnin my remote for my amp off of a fuse in the fuse panel. is there a better place to run the remote wire from and if so is it difficult or easy? thanks!

from the center console, between the two seats...to the lighter type plug. Pretty easy from there.

I've heard a few times running not enough watts to subs is bad as well...

I picked up a "520watt max" amp for $75 shipped from some no name brand and the thing does amazing. It's running my front componets at 125watts rms for about a year now, and is stuffed under my seat with NO air to cool or breath and it has been going stronge since I got it. Also I live in AZ and usually dont us a/c.

      False

Only two things can kill a subwoofer clipping (feeding the subwoofer DC current) and over powering (pushing the subwoofer beyond its thermal/mechanical threshold).

      Ahh guess it isn't!

Not always. One summer my a/c was broken all summer cuz I didn't have a day off work to drop off my car...since then it's been a breaze.
