    Thread: More speaker install questions.

      More speaker install questions.

I was on the old board trying to find the topic about fitting 5" speakers in the front doors...I couldnt find it.

Anyways, has anyone installed 5" speakers in the front door? How did you do it?

I never thought I would need some tweeters in the car. I was riding in my friend's Cobalt SS, and he has some Pioneer Tweeters in the Door Sail Panels. They sound great. Of course, Chevy had to downgrade us a bit by giving Aveo owners only one power mirror. I would install the tweeters there, but I cant. Has anyone removed the A-Pillar molding? I wonder if there is enough space to install them there. Only problem is that I will have a Silver pillar with black tweeters. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can mount the tweeters other than the A-Pillar?

The Pioneers I want are the TS-T110.

To mount the 5" you only need a 1" spacer and they will mount in factory location. As for the tweeter, I'm pretty sure they would fit the A-pillars but I'm not sure.

I am going to experiment with it. According to Crutchfield, they only need 0.5 inches of depth mount. I am going to pull off the A-Pillars and see what I can do with it. What kind of spacers would I need for the front speakers? It does not affect the way the window rolls down or anything?

You need a round, 1inch spacer available at circuit city or on ebay.

Those will fit both 5 1/4" or 6.5" speakers.

I was looking in the car today and I noticed that I can gain alot of room if I take the adapter off. Did you do that with yours or did you leave it on?
