      Alright, here's the whole story...

I stepped out of the car in a parking lot, went to lock the door, and as I slid the key into the cylinder, the whole thing broke off its retainer and fell inside the door. Somehow I need to get that thing out of there!

With you guys' help, I did get the window crank and the inside door panel out of the way, but the cylinder is still lost on the other side of the window glass. It looks like the whole outside door handle assembly comes off, but I think it has to be unscrewed from the inside. Eventually I need to have that assembly on the workbench so I can reinstall the lock. I'm willing to take the whole damn door off and shake it upside down, but I also need to get in there somehow to reinstall it. I'd hate to cut up that vapor barrier... surely there's another way to do this.

      HELP!!! Thank you!!!

i have the 07 sedan, i had to remove my old door handles with locks and all to get the new ones on, on mine there was a screw on the side of the door behind a plastic plug.

Problem solved. I got the screw out of the bottom of the door, and with a little contorting of my wrist, I got a socket on it and put the thing back together. I hope that never happens again!

I had the same thing, but never found the bolt. Luckily I have a fair amount of bolts to replace it with.
