      AIR BAGS

I want to replace my driver's seat with a Recaro seat. Can I disconnect the in seat air bag from the driver's seat without causing a problem? Can I replace it with a resistor to fake the computer into thinking it is still there? A service manager suggested that removing one air bag will cause them all to fail but that seems odd.

in most systems the side air bags not only operate separately from the front airbags, they operate separate from each other as well..

saying what you need to trick the computer would need more research. dependent of how the system detects the airbags presence.

what recaro are you going with?

hopefully not a cheap one, we advocate high quailty seats to offset having no airbags

Re: AIR BAGS and Recaro Seats

Recaro does not make cheap seats. They are top quality. I've had them in 3 previous Mazda 323s and have a second pair in my racing tow van.

Yea but hs anyone got in a car crash with those seats. What's better just a quality seat or a seat with an airbag.

I'm actuly thinking about racing seats too if not just reupholstered seats n the airbags n them to do either is definitely my question too

      Re: AIR BAGS

a good racing seat with bolsters hold you in the seat, head bolsters keep you head still. side air bags are to keep you head from hitting the window.. so they can both do the same thing different ways,,,

a truly bolstered racing seat would be hard to get out of in a crash though, if time is important.

i thought it cushions side impact which sounds pretty good to me. is the actual seat made out of steel? how safe are harnesses.
