undecided on what color to choose
So my alarm came in today, plan on installing it tomorrow, but im kinda undecided on what LED color to choose, my car is victory red, my original plan was to do all red LEDs(underbody, 7 LED scanner, the rea where you put your feet), thing is the alarm comes with a blue blinking LED, the only thing i like about the blue one i that is brighter, but i really wanna match my car with the lights.
What do you think? would all blue look good on a red car?does anybody here have red leds on their cars?
Re: undecided on what color to choose
There are some people with red LEDs here if I remember correctly. My question is, since you'll almost never have the interior/underglow lights on while the alarm is activated, why does it matter if they're different colors? If your alarm is secured, most likely your lights are off...
You could always take apart the module that has the LED in it and wire the red one in there...
Just do a quick google search for "red LED interior" in images... (first one is actually right-hand drive Aveo from overseas)
Here's a few pics off the internet:

Re: undecided on what color to choose
The interior LEDs will be on when the parking lights are on, and my underody LEDs will only be on when alarm ir armed, or for 10 secs after I lock it, also when car locator function is used, but not when driving. I had red neons before on a red car and loved it, but I have never personally seen red LEDs.
Re: undecided on what color to choose
hope the pictures above help... here's a link to the different custom/LED upgrades to the gauges from the company I just got mine from: http://www.blackcatcustom.com/custom%20design.htm

Yeah, one more thing, where did u get the LEDs you have on your bumper? Are they strips?
Re: undecided on what color to choose
LED strips from AutoZone... $20 bucks a pair.
Re: undecided on what color to choose
OK cool, I have a vato zone close to me.
As for the LEDs, I'm gonna go with red ones, I found some on eGay.
Are the LEDs you have legal or are they same principle as neons?

if you're talking about under body neons, than no, its different. You would definitely get pulled over for driving with those on. With LED strips - there is a lot of mercedes and audis that have them from the factory now, so they're more relaxed about those (just like about HIDs). If they wanted to, I'm pretty sure they could say something about it, but I have them wired as my parking lights. They're white in color (cool white), and my turn signals are amber, so color wise I'm legal... Haven't got any trouble for them yet, so I'll have to assume the cops don't care much about them... now it could be different from state to state, maybe even county to county... hopefully won't hear nothing from them though.
I think they say they can't be distracting for other drivers (as neons usually are). if they're right colors, there shouldn't be an issue with them. Install at your own risk though.
Re: undecided on what color to choose
this is one thing that confused me... i was once speaking with an officer and he said ye neons are illegal because they distract other users... then i asked if blue bulbs are illegal and again he said yes as they would distract road users..
does anyone know if a WHITE under car neons/LED's are illegal?? because in theory.. they are white.. just like the rest of the colours of the bulbs on all the cars...
but as for distraction... im not sure if id get away with that bit.. :(
Re: undecided on what color to choose
Now that U say this, in my eclipse I had installed an aftermarket bumper, which didn't have the holes for bottom parking lights; I just left them there hanging, it did iluminate my front part of the car, was pulled over many times but they never mentioned anything.
