ROOF RACK or LUGGAGE RACK

I'm looking for used or new roof rack ..one that is securely held in place at 70mph , not with door edge straps. does anyone of a brand that will fit with little or no modification ..eg. drilling new roof leaks...thanx for ur help in advance...plez post pics if brand is unknown

Check out Yakima and Thule. They are the popular options when it comes to roof rack systems.

I've had my yakima ones for 12 years - still using them, never had a problem, at any speed. When I shake my mounted sports gear the whole car rocks from side to side. I've carried over 160lbs of wood on them too, queen sized mattresses, you name it! They use a door 'clamp' style where you set the free play for them with a threaded adjuster and then tweak it from time to time to make them clamp on. The first time you set them up you have to follow the instructions for your car in order to set their widths properly. If you do this and don't lose the spacer tabs they should never whistle (a huge peeve of mine with roof racks). They secure around the drip rail - the older style of connection that works with my '06. Only thing I've noticed is that the weather stripping right around where I always mount the racks has degraded just a teensy bit but its negligible and that took about ten years.
