Peg that holds gas door closed broke - solved

When fueling my car the other day, the peg that holds the gas door closed broke. I am unable to locate any information on replacing it. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the cheapest gas door ever. My hinge is cracked I refuel very carefully. Any ideas on a cool looking gas door like the supercars get or I saw a cool race style skeleton door on a mitsu. Any info/ ideas???

I had the pin break on my 06 and the hinge broke on my wife's 05. I fixed the both the same way-- using a mini drill I drilled holes through the broken parts and, using a mini screw for the pin and a mini steel rod for the hinge, fastened them all back together. The head of the screw now serves as the friction point for the gas cover slide mechanism. Easier than finding new parts......

i installed it and it broke the first time. how did you use a mini screw to fix it. it seemed like the pin was to long. thanks, mike
