      mold on aluminum wheels?!?!?!?!

I can't fricken believe it. I stored my aftermarket wheels in the garage for the winter. Now, the rims have what looks like mold growing on the clearcoated polished surfaces! WTF. I got the wheels from WheelsNext BTW. So, I doubt I'll get any satisfaction.

pictures? what color mold? where did you store them?

it should come right off, but if it has been there awhile it might need scrubbed good.

how does mold growing on them have anything to do with who u got the wheels from or what kind of wheels....mold will grow on anything given where u store it....except if it is specifically designed to be mold resistant

If it's the "white mold" that's corrosion. That's because the wheels were put away dirty and may have had some road salt on them. I've seen it before on an old set of polished wheels I had, I had to repolish them which was easy because I polished them the first time andd they were not clear coated.

hopefully it's just a bit of green mold or something and it will just wash off, I'd go out and buy some wheel polish to be safe.

The mold is under the clear coat. It's not powder like but it is whitish. And it's in spots all over the polished aluminum. It is not on the black powdercoat and not on the tire. It can not be polished out. I've stored a lot of high quality wheels in my garage (mostly motorcycle racing wheels) and never had this happen. AND I have heard that cheap clearcoat will not protect against mold because it is usually sprayed on too thin or the surface was not prepped properly, or the clearcoat itself is contaminated.

And this should not happen under storage in a garage. I still think that's bull****. And have you ever looked at the response ratio good to bad when it comes to WheelsNext? Have you ever looked at the number of complaints logged for that company? That's a warning to be heeded.

There is a saying: "You get what you pay for". Besides, I was not complaining about them. I bought them and I'll have to live with them. But, I still think that the quality of the product is ****ing ****. It's just my ****ing opinion. God damn it. ****ing **** IMHO. LOL

As soon as I can. I'll take a macro photo and a wider shot of the mold. it'll be interesting to see.
