Hey all, occasional lurker, first time poster here. I am looking for suggestions for good headlight bulbs. The stock bulbs were pretty good, so when one burnt out, I bought a pair of silver stars because I didn't want to cheap out and not be able to see anything. Well, the silver stars burnt out and now I'm looking for something with good visibility and decent (longer than 4 months) longevity. What are some of the the top picks?
silverstar ultras, if your lights are burning out quickly I'd check the wiring. Silverstars last longer than that.

I haven't had a pair of Silver star bulbs last much longer than the warranty. Tried them on another car a couple of years ago (back when they had the one year warranty), and they lasted a year and two or three weeks. Thought it was just a fluke until on the Aveo, this pair lasted just 4 months. Also, I found out at some point they reduced the warranty to 90 days. Not enough life to justify the price.

From the research I've done, the issue with the silver stars is that they don't like their current being changed, which seems to be caused by the daytime running lights module. Disable that and you're set; at least on the first gens. Here it's perfectly legal to use your amber lights strips as DRL.

yup, the drl runs at a reduced voltage, causing all sorts of havok with he bulbs.
