      drl problem

unless ive been misled, we have an annual car inspection in new brunswick - - and part of that inspection is the drl's.

im getting hid's in a month or so and plan to disable the drl's

the question is this: is there a way to hook up some kind of other light as a drl so that the lows would still be off but another light comes on as a 'running light'?

what you can do is hook up a switch that would simulate the parking break being on, then when you go for inspection, you flick it back and drl's would come on. very simple.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Or just leave the safety device fully functioning?

What is wrong with having a low level headlight on during the day? I mean, I see nothing wrong with them...

      drls + hid's = blown ballast

the low wattage of the drl will make the hid's flicker and therefore wreck them....

besides which, i very much dislike drl's i think they in the day time (vs dawn or dusk) they pose a larger threat than driving w/o them. though this isnt the case for the aveo, often the turn signals are close enough to the drl lights that its hard to see if a turn indicator is on or not.....which, imo, poses a problem.....they are, however, better at dawn and dusk because stupid people have a tendency NOT to turn on theyre headlights at those times. ive also see people driving at night w/ just drls on too, which is pretty dangerous.....ive come up behind people w/o theyre headlights on so that they dont actually have the tails on.....very dangerous. also, i drove thru that crazy rain/flood that toronto had 2 summers ago and almost slammed into a pickup doing 80km/h in the fast lane w/ only his drl's on.....

so needless to say, im no promoter of drl's....

anyways, what i did on my matrix was hook up the power line of the drl module to a switch so that for inspections i can turn the drls on or off. but the thing is, when i had my hid's i swapped the wiring on the fogs and lows (since technically they use the same 9006 bulb) so that my fogs (non hid) were my drls....

in the aveo i only have the headlights....no fogs....

so really i just need a second set of lights somewhere to run as the drl's instead of the lows.....anyone have an idea?

Just depends what you wire the lights to. Sure, you can wire them into the parking light circuit if you want. But I don't see why you couldn't wire them into a constant power source so that they're always on like drls.
