Blacking out front and rear emblem

Hi guys! I'm thinking about blacking out my front and rear bow tie emblems. I'd like to be able to do this without removing them from the car by taping it all off and painting it while its still attached. Has anyone else attempted this? Would it be better to go ahead and just remove them?

masking tape and printer paper.

Black Vinyl on ebay, its like 8 bucks, i did mine, looks beast.

I used plasti-dip, it's like sticky rubber when it dries up and you can remove it whenever you feel like doing so.
