I owned a automatic car once before and it never whined when it shifter gears, but in my 5 speed 06 LS, when I accelerate to get faster and shift it makes a whine and it does it when I downshift too. Is that something our car just does or something I should get checked out?

No it's manual. It whines when downshifting, like when the rms go up
