What is the purpose of this dohicky?

what is the do-hickey that is between the PCV valve and intake.
It is bisected by, what looks to be a water return hose.

Could it leak water into the intake?

thats the route the pcv system follows, for crankcase pressurized air to go back into the intake..

i guess water could leak into it if you fill the engine to the tippy top with water. the system should be sealed between the valve cover and intake.

I'm pretty sure its just a fancy fitting that makes for a slightly cleaner looking engine bay. A bit nicer than two hoses passing each other, but a waste of money IMO. They don't allow one system to leak into the other.
